5. Blender or mixer

If making your own chocolate syrup you will need sugar, powdered cocoa and milk.

  1. ¼ cup powdered cocoa
  2. ½ cup sugar
  3. 1 cup milk
  4. pan
  5. spoon or rubber spatula


How to make chocolate syrup:

  1. Blend chocolate, sugar and milk in pan
  2. heat on low
  3. stir with rubber spatula or spoon until both the powdered cocoa and sugar are dissolved and well blended


How to make a chocolate milkshake:

  1. Add ¼ cup syrup, 3 large scoops of ice cream and 1 cup of milk in a bowl or large glass
  2. Optional: Add sugar to taste (about 2 Tablespoons)
  3. Mix it all up with a blender or mixer until no lumps remain (blending on medium or low speed usually leads to a creamier milkshake)
  4. If a thicker milkshake is desired add more ice cream and stir again until no lumps remain
  5. If you desire a thinner milkshake add more milk and stir again until desired consistency is obtained
  6. Optional: Add toppings such as cherries or other fruit, chopped nuts, whipped cream, chopped candy bits or anything else you think sounds good
